The Bedford Half Marathon is once again approaching fast – so we thought we’d take some time out to speak to a few runners that are taking part this year!
This will be James’ first half marathon in 18 months but his 4th in total, previously running the Birmingham, Black Country and Warwick half marathons! He’s been a casual runner for about 5 years and although he’s not done much preparation for this half marathon, in particular, he’s picked up recently with the big day approaching.
James loves to have a half marathon planned so that he maintains a certain level of fitness and he’s really looking forward to his first Bedford half marathon which is just on his doorstep!
James’ runner number: 1988.
For Hazel, this will be her first half marathon ever! She’s rarely run more than 5km in the past so this will be some achievement, especially having a little one making the training a bit harder. Hazel has been training in the 12 weeks leading up to the event which has included both running and strength training (impressive stuff!) and is doing this to help raise money to the Bedford Hospitals Charity – a fantastic cause!
Hazel’s runner number: 2005
After tearing some knee ligaments in 2015 and then having a baby in 2016, this will be Louise’s third half marathon (previously doing one in 2014 and 2015).
There are high expectations with her completing her previous half marathons in under 2 hours, and we hope that she can do the same here too – fingers crossed for you, Louise! Although she isn’t running this for a particular charity, Louise, unfortunately, lost her Nan earlier this year and this has been a great focus for her.
Louise’s runner number: 914
The half marathon kicks off at 9am on Sunday 2nd September from Priory Park in Bedford – come down and support our runners – we will be!
